The Carmel girls’ cross country team competed at the MIC Championships earlier today at North Central High School. This a challenging course with the warmer temperatures, but we definitely had some great racing none the less.

The day began with the Varsity race where the Greyhounds put 5 girls in the top 10 and came away with a decisive victory. Brooklyn Edwards led the way for the entire field and finished as the 2019 individual MIC champion. Also earning All MIC Honors were: Alivia Romaniuk, Emily Hand, Roni Ledezma and Lily Rose. Madalyn Sailors and Halle Welch were close behind also finishing in the top 20.

Next up was the JV team and they definitely took care of business taking the top 5 spots and earning a perfect score of 15. The rest of the team also raced well placing 12 Carmel runners in the top 15. The individual race champion was Sydney Haines followed by teammates: Elle Nichol, Abby Parker, Evie Taller, Savannah Hill, Christina McCollum and Evie Gordon.

Coach’s Comments:
Today our team did exactly what we had hoped. First off, we won the MIC Championships which was one of our season goals. But even more so, we saw some of our mid-pack Varsity runners really step up today which gives us terrific momentum going into the IHSAA tournament season.
