Carmel’s girls’ cross country team competed in the IHSAA Semi State held in Shelbyville on Saturday morning. Amidst pouring rain and 20mph winds, the Lady Hounds finished 2nd to Zionsville in a closely fought race.
Brooklynn Edwards led the Greyhounds with a 16th place finish followed closely by Jamie Klavon, Phoebe Bates, Brooke Waldal and Alivia Romaniuk. What was most impressive was the 17 second gap the Hounds had from 1st-5th, which will prove very helpful next week.
Finishing in the top 6 teams for this round qualifies the team for next week’s State meet held at Laverne Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, IN.
