The Greyhounds once again won the MIC championship in cross country, this time with 37 points to outdistance second place Center Grove by 20 points. Freshman Kole Mathison led the squad with a second place finish in 15:57, finishing on the heels of two-time MIC champion Alex Frey or North Central into the finish chute. Senior Grant Moon held off a strong field for third place in 16:04 while junior Hudson Alden, senior Austin Throckmorton and sophomore Charlie Schuman also scored for the ‘Hounds.

In the junior varsity race, senior Will Murphy made his season debut in 16:44 to lead the ‘Hounds to a perfect score of 15 with Carmel runners taking the first 11 spots and 16 of the first 20 places. Seniors Sam Hooton and Nick Schuster also broke the 17 minute barrier on a humid late-September morning with junior Nate Seketa and freshman Quavion Hooks scoring for the ‘Hounds.

The ‘Hounds will next be in action for the Nike Valley Twilight meet next Saturday in a unique evening race with an under-the-lights format for the races on the famed LaVern Gibson cross country course in Terre Haute, home of the IHSAA state championships later this season.
