Girls Varsity Swimming · CARMEL WINS 35th STRAIGHT STATE TITLE

The Girls Swimming & Diving team continues to raise the bar with each passing year. In the middle of a Pandemic, the Greyhounds never lost focus of the daily pursuit of excellence in practice to dominate the state finals in historic fashion. The Hounds scored a state meet record 479 points and set a new margin of victory record (279 points). Both records broke previous marks set by the 2015 team. Carmel set the tone with a fantastic Friday prelims performance. In a first for the program, the Hounds advanced all 24 individual swims and 3 relays to the Saturday finals (20 championship heat qualifiers, 4 consolation heat qualifiers). Divers Alaina Heyde (fifth) and Darci Commons (sixth) added to the championship as they were the highest tandem finishers in program history. The 35th consecutive state championship for the program continues the Nation’s Longest Consecutive Title Streak All-Time in any Sport.
