Boys Tennis · Greyhounds win fifth consecutive IHSAA Boys State Tennis Championship


INDIANAPOLIS – The Carmel Greyhounds won their fifth consecutive IHSAA Boys Tennis State Championship by defeating North Central 3-2 (Oct. 17).  The Hounds improved their winning record to 102-0 over the past five years.

Carmel’s double’s teams took care of business in rather quick fashion.  The #1 duo team consisting of Malpeddi and McNamar won 6-1, 6-0 and the Hounds #2 doubles team of Eckhart and King won convincingly 6-2, 6-1.  North Central was able to even the score 2-2 with tough wins at both #1 and #3 singles.   The state championship was decided at the #2 singles position.  Carmel’s Eli Mercer outlasted North Central’s Freshman Alex Antonopolus 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
