Greyhound fans! It’s time to vote for the September Indiana Members Credit Union Athlete of the Month. Nominated for Carmel High School this month is:
Kole Mathison – Cross Country – Carmel
Kole Mathison is a sophomore at Carmel High School. He is undefeated in his cross country season thus far, including individual wins at the Hamilton County championship and MIC championship. His best time this season of 15:16 came on the challenging Northview course at the Riverview Health Invitational, leading his Greyhounds to victory over several other highly ranked teams. Most recently, Mathison ran 15:18 on the famed LaVern Gibson cross country course to win individually as his #2 Carmel team finished one point behind top-ranked Columbus North. Mathison finished 11th at the finals in cross country as a freshman in 2019, helping Carmel to a runner-up finish.

Ben Dinkel – Football – Hamilton Southeastern
Outstanding character. Ben is the definition for what we look for in our teammates. He is the last to leave practice, games, and our locker room every day. He stays after to make sure that everything is clean. He is the most positive player on our team. He is always there to pick his teammates up when they are struggling.
Micah Hauser – Football – Westfield
Micah has been a catalyst for the Rocks football team playing both ways, offense and defense, on a 6A football team. Since September 4, offensively he has rushed for 571 yards (8 yards per carry), caught 11 passes for 135 yards, and scored 5 touchdowns. Defensively he has 19 solo tackles and 36 assisted tackles for an average of 10.5 tackles a game. This includes a 25 tackle game against the #2 ranked team in the state on September 25. He also had 1 fumble recovery. Micah has helped the Rocks win 5 games in a row and climb to the #2 ranked team in 6A in the IFCA poll.
Cole Metzger – Tennis – Guerin Catholic
Cole won the #1 singles flight of the Homestead Invite and let his team to their first ever championship in that event. He then won both his matches in sectional action, thus continuing in the state singles championship tournament.
Kyle Eden – Soccer – Sheridan
Kyle Eden is a Boys soccer player at Sheridan High School.
Samantha Brown – Golf – Westfield
Samantha helped lead the Rocks to the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Championship by earning medalist honors shooting a 3 under 69 . She followed that up by earning medalist honors at the IHSAA Regional shooting a 1 over 73 and leading the Rocks to the IHSAA Regional Championship. At the IHSAA State Championship, Samantha finished 7th individually in the state and lead the Rocks to a team 5th place state championship finish.
Katie Koger – Soccer – Guerin Catholic
In all, she scored 9 goals throughout the month of September which included 8 vs. Cathedral, Covenant Christian, South Bend St. Joseph’s and Penn. Koger has been an instrumental part of a front line attack for the Golden Eagles that has scored 58 goals in 16 games. Katie is also a starter for the girls basketball team with a 3.7 GPA.
Christina Pfefferkom – Golf – Guerin Catholic
Christina finished tied for 3rd in the Roncalli Regional to advance as an individual to the Girls Golf State Tournament. She shot a 76 at the Regional event. She was the lowest scoring individual golfer not playing with a team and was the only Guerin Catholic Golden Eagle to tee it up at this year’s state tournament, where she finished in 10th place, shooting +12 for the two-round event.
Avery Hobson – Volleyball – Hamilton Southeastern
Avery lead the Royals during September with several outstanding performances on the court. She registered a total of 52 kills for the month. Her play helped HSE to the Brebeuf Invitational victory with big wins over Tri-West, Bishop Chatard, Bloomington South and Penn and move the team record to 15-0 on the year, as of the end of September.
